A supportive learning environment provides impetus to dynamism&enthusiasm, innovation, flexibility, adaptability and prevents exhaustion and drift. The insurance industry in India has undergone a sea change after liberalisation and is experiencing unacceptable levels of customer demands, which impels constant organisational learning.Primary data for the study are collected systematically using questionnaire from 182 employees of general insurance companies on the dimensions of supporting learning environment namely, psychological safety, appreciation of differences, openness to new ideas, and time for reflection. Results of SEM concluded that learning organisation is significantly predicted by four dimensions of supported learning environment. Organisations are suggested to use novel approaches to optimise internal marketing practice by transnational leadership, encouragement and curiosity.

The present study focuses on analysis of research output in the discipline of Library and Information Science at Panjab University, Chandigarh and Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar till 31 December 2014. The curriculum vitae (CV) and publication details of faculty members of Department of Library and Information Science were obtained by personal visit to universities and bibliographic information on their papers were recorded. The study deals with 152 publications of Panjab University, Chandigarh and 111 publications of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, in the field of Library and Information Science.It examines the Library and Information Science output by different ways like document type, authorship pattern, and degree of collaboration. The study also examines the relative growth rate of publications and doubling time for publications.Keywords

The purpose of this paper is to assess the synergistic impact of knowledge management (KM) on organisational performance (OP). Further, this paper testified the mediating role of innovation in the relationship between knowledge management and organisational performance. Primary data has been collected through self-modified and well-structured questionnaires, which were distributed among employees working in the general insurance sector of the Jammu District of J&K, by using the census method. Secondary sources investigated were books, newspapers, and relevant journals. Extensive review of literature has been conducted to frame the dimensions of the construct, namely knowledge management, innovation, and organisational performance. Questionnaires have been duly purified and validated before data analysis. Structural equation modelling technique has been used to assess the impact of knowledge management on organisational performance. The results revealed a significant and positive impact of KM on OP. Furthermore, the Baron and Kenny approach has been used to testify the mediating role of innovation, and the results found a partial mediation, which signifies the existence of a direct relationship between KM and OP, as well as an indirect relationship through innovation. The respondents might have given the information regarding knowledge management, innovation, and organisational performance on the basis of their own perception. In order to implement an effective knowledge management system, management should create a culture conducive to learning and knowledge.Keywords

Organisations worldwide are creating learning organisations for knowledge acquisition & sharing, collectively empowering people toward innovation and change, creating value for customers & shareholders, etc. Output of a learning organisation not only improves operating efficiency by modifying products, processes & services but also leads to distinctive advantages and outsells the competition. Environmental turbulence is transforming general insurance organisations from mechanical to LOs to remain competitive, efficient and effective. Data for the study were collected from 498 employees of 11 general insurance company GIC organisations functioning in the union territory of J&K. After data reduction and scale validation through exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis, hypotheses were tested using structural equation modelling and one-way ANOVA. The study concluded that for ensuring successful LO, learning aptitude, knowledge and training must be encouraged. Further, empowerment, shared vision, teamwork, reward, effective communication, and supportive leadership are also required for encouraging employees to perform outstanding at the individual level, group level, and corporation level.Keywords
