The aim of research investigation was to study marital adjustment and life stress as related to family environment of married female customer care executives working in call centres. The study was conducted on 100 married female customer care executives between the age of age group of 25-30 years, randomly selected from different call centers in Chandigarh and Panchkula city. Marital Adjustment Questionnaire (Kumar&Rohtagi, 1976) was used for determining the marital adjustment; Family Environment Scale (Vohra, 1997) was used for assessing the different dimensions of family environment and Life Stress Questionnaire was developed by the investigator in order to assess the level of stress in the married female customer care executives. Pearson's coefficient of correlation and multivariate linear regression was used to analyze the obtained date. The findings reveled that marital adjustment had highly significant positive correlation with the various dimensions of family environment and there was also significant negative correlation between life stress and various dimensions of family environment. Furthermore, multivariate linear regression analysis indicated that cohesion and recreational orientation of the family environment had revealed significant positive prediction for the marital adjustment scores. The findings have pointed towards the role of positive family environment for dealing with dual responsibilities and maintain harmonious adjustment at home for married female customer care executivesKeywords

The aim of the present research investigation was to explore the perception of problems among adolescents studying in government and public schools. The sample of 100 (N=100) students with equal number of males and females studying in class twelfth was randomly selected from government (n=50) and public schools (n=50). For identifying the perception of adolescents regarding their problems, a standardized Student Problems Inventory developed by Badami (1977) was used. In order to analyze the data, t-test was applied. Results depicted that significant difference existed between the mean scores of perception of problems of Govt. and Public school adolescents with regard to area of economic and material facilities (t=2.261, p<. 05). Highly significant difference was also revealed in the mean scores of perception of problems of Govt. and Public school adolescents with regard to vocational area (t=2.686, p<.01). The findings suggest that in the above two areas, public school adolescents perceived more problems as compared to their counterparts studying in govt. schools.Keywords

The present investigation was conducted to get an insight into general health and social support among employees working in non-nationalized banks. The study was carried out in Chandigarh and its satellite towns-Panchkula and S.A.S. Nagar, Mohali, on a sample of 200 male and female employees having minimum 1year of job experience from 5 non-nationalized banks (20 males and 20 females from each bank). Standardized tools were used to measure general health and social support. The findings revealed that female employees working in non-nationalized banks had poor level of general health, while male employees had average level of health in general. It was also found that both female and male employees working in non-nationalized banks had average followed by less number of social support from their families, colleagues and friends. Majority of them perceived average satisfaction with their social support.Keywords

The present investigation attempted to get an insight into mother and father attachment of adolescents living in slum areas as well as to find out gender difference, if any, in their parental attachment. The study was carried out on a sample of 100 adolescents (50 Boys + 50 Girls) aged 13-17 years, from four randomly selected slum areas of Chandigarh. Standardized tool was used to assess mother and father attachment among subjects. The findings revealed that majority of boys were found to have moderate level of attachment with their mothers, while majority of the girls had high level of attachment with them. As far as attachment with father is concerned, both boys and girls fell into moderate category. The findings depicted significant difference in alienation and attachment with mother of boys and girls, with girls having less alienation and more attachment with mothers than that of boys. Significant difference was also observed between boys and girls with regard to communication with father, with girls having more communication with their fathers than those of boys.Keywords

The present investigation was conducted to get an insight into mother-adolescent perception of problems of eighth class students studying in Government and Public schools. The study was carried out in Chandigarh on a sample of 100 adolescents (50 from Govt. schools + 50 from Public schools) comprising of equal number of boys and girls and their 100 mothers. Student Problems Inventory developed by Badami (1977) and its modified version were used to measure perception of problems of adolescents and their mothers, respectively. The findings revealed that Govt. school adolescents perceived more problems related to self and self image as compared to Public school adolescents. It was also found that adolescents and their mothers differed significantly in the perception of problems related to family and education. Mothers perceive lesser problems related to their adolescents as compared to adolescents themselves.Keywords

The present study was conducted to identity the problems of students studying in IX and X standard as well as to find out the relationship of problems of students belonging to single and dual earning families with their family environment. The sample comprised of randomly selected 100 students, with 50 students each from single and dual earning families, studying in five different Government Models Schools of Chandigarh. The findings highlighted that students from single earning families were found to have more of academic problems while students from dual earning families were found to have more of social and personal problems as compared to their counterparts from single earning families. It was also found that highly significant differences existed between the two types of samples with regard to cohesion, independence, organization and recreational orientation of their families. Findings also showed that as student problems increased, the scores on family environment decreased.Keywords
