Abstract

Retinoblastoma is the most common intraocular malignancy in children with a reported incidence averaging about 1 in 15000 to 1 in 18000 livebirths . Like other solid tumors of childhood ,this tumor also results from a genetic disturbance .Early diagnosis and awareness about this tumor is important for saving the eye and life of the affected child. Pediatrician may be the first contact of the parents of these children. Awareness among pediatricians is a must for avoiding delay in referral to ocular oncologists.

Abstract

To evaluate the utilization of health care services provided under ESI scheme. Cross-sectional, descriptive. ESI dispensary, Shivaji colony Rohtak. Percentage, simple proportion, chi square test, linear regression model. 500 Insured Persons. Out of total 500 participants, 418(83.6%) subjects were utilizing and rest 82(16.4%) were not utilizing ESI health care services. Among utilizing 418 (83.5%) participants, 391 (93.5%) insured persons were males and 27(6.5%) were females while among non-utilizing, 82 (6.5%), 78 (95.1%) insured were males and 4(4.9%) were females. The R value is 0.804 and adjusted R square is 0.630 meaning thereby 63% utilization of health care services at ESI dispensary is due to variables age, caste, literacy status, income, marital status, family members of study participants, knowledge about location of ESI, duration of insurance under ESI scheme, contribution deducted under ESI scheme, OPD timings, health care facility at ESI, distance of ESI-HCF from their residence, behavior of doctor, waiting time for registration and getting treatment, average time spent in ESI dispensary during treatment, satisfied with doctor's treatment and overall satisfaction with ESI services. The value of Durbin-Watson test is <2 which proves that there is no co-linearity among independent variables. Utilization of health care services is determined to a large extent by their availability and accessibility. Distance from the health care facility plays significant role in service utilization. Patients' satisfaction is not necessarily the main criterion by which primary care services should be judged, but the attitudes of the consumers of health care play important role which must be considered in evaluating services.

Abstract

Three quarter of the neonatal deaths happens in the first week only and the initial 24 hours itself take a toll of 25% to 45% of deaths. The Studies conducted in the South East Asia Regions has shown the impact of home visits by skilled workers and it has reduced deaths of newborns by 30 to 61%. Home visits by a skilled health worker immediately after birth is a health strategy that can increase newborn survival rates. The present cross sectional survey was done among the 54 ASHAs of the Kurali Block of district Faridabad of Haryana. All the ASHAs were assessed on the basis of their skills and knowledge about the component of Home Based Post Natal Care (HBPNC). Conclusions and recommendations:All the ASHAs were well versed with the vital issues in postnatal care. There is still gap m the skills required for proper HBPNC. There is need of continuous on the job training for the Home Based Post Natal Care.

Abstract

Over the past two decades, health care waste has been identified as one of the major problems that have negative impact on both human health and environment. Information on generation rate provides a basis for the design of an operation, control programs, recycling and processing plants, wastes disposal projects and the choice of most effective disposal alternative. The objective of the study was to study Generation, Quantification and Composition of Biomedical Waste generated in hospitals in Faridabad Dist.of Haryana. The study was conducted from Feb 2006 to Jan 2007.There were more than 234 clinics/hospitals (Registered with Faridabad Pollution Board) and having more than 2400 beds in Faridabad hospitals. Data of various health care units was collected from an authorized private company collected waste generated at hospitals daily&from Haryana Pollution Control Board Faridabad (HPCBF). Field observation and surveys were conducted to analyze segregation of waste. Waste generated by different hospitals at Faridabad is different, varying from 1.17 kg/bed/day to 2.20 kg/bed/day. Infectious waste is 14% to 23.3 % of the total hospital waste. Non-infectious waste increases almost linear with infectious waste, and there is strong correlation between these two types of waste, with coefficient of correlation as 0.79. The generation rate of hospital waste varies with the bed occupancy rate. Private hospitals produce more hospital waste as compared to Govt, hospitals. Waste generation depends on various factors such as type of health care establishment, hospital specialties, proportion of reusable and disposal items, implementation of national and hospital waste management policy. Biomedical waste management regulations need to be implemented strictly so that appropriate and uniform disposal of Hospital waste is ensured.

Abstract

Mid-day meal (MDM) is one of the initiatives that is the central and state government. MDM was started in order to protect our primary school children from malnutrition and other disease and thus providing opportunity for their proper growth and resulting in the improvement in their learning level so that a strong foundation of quality education and physical stamma is provided to the children. Study was Cross-sectional and participants were given a self-structured questionnaire. A sample of 40 teachers (20 rural and 20 urban) were selected from 20 government primary schools (10 urban and 10 rural) from five blocks of district Rohtak, Haiyana. Percentage, simple proportion, Results indicated that mid day meal is a factor for attracting the students for admission(57%),there was increase in the daily attendance in the school (65%), and the there was a good response to stop the dropout rate (57%). Mid-Day Meal Scheme has an overall positive effect on education. The admission and attendance have increased in the schools. The school dropout rate has decreased.lt is needed to change the thinking of teacher toward this scheme and remove the lacuna to make the mid-day meals scheme more effective, productive, purposeftil and resultoriented.

Abstract

Attitude refers to the expressed feelings of postnatal mothers regarding postnatal care. The new mother may have an inadequate or incorrect understanding of what to expect during the antenatal period and following delivery. Furthermore, new mothers are not aware of various physical and physiological changes associated with postnatal period. Therefore, developing competence and skill in caring for an infant may be anxiety providing for a new mother, family members, nurses and other healthcare professionals. The sample consists of 100 postnatal mothers with normal vaginal delivery, instrumental delivery and operational delivery. The setting for the present study was Primary Health Center, Kyathasandra, Tumkur. Karnataka. More than half of them mothers were breast complications 72%. The overall mean of knowledge and attitude 76.57, 60.41 with SD of 8.77 10.21 mean score was 84.14 and 75.5. There is significant association between knowledge scores and religion, education occupation, family type, income, order of pregnancy. It shows the structured questionnaire was an effective kin imparting the knowledge of postnatal care. Knowledge deficit existed in varying degree in the Postnatal Mothers in various areas. The mothers were enthusiastic in seeking the information postnatal care was very interesting.

Abstract

Celiac disease came to notice during world war II when due to wheat and other cereals shortage alternate diet was accepted and it improved symptoms in patients with celiac disease. Worldwide prevalence in white population is around 1%.With newer diagnostic techniques and high penetration of health facilities it's diagnostic reporting is increasing. Immunological testing and his to pathological examination now increased detection. Diarrhea, bloating and gas abdomen, weight loss remain chief complaints of patients with celiac disease. Nutritional deficiency depends on site and extent of involvement of small gut. Villousatrophy in small intestine is responsible for malabsorption. In cases where there is less involvement of duodenum and proximal jejunum, Iron folate and Calcium absorption is hampered due to situation of high affinity transport mechanisms in these areas. Bone mass loss, macrocytic anemia or iron deficiency anemia are the consequential clinical presentations. Nutritional evaluation is done for patients include anthropometric measurements to hematological levels of nutrients and related evaluations. Six key elements are recommended for management of celiac disease (CELIAC),Consultation with a trained dietician, Education on the disease, Life long gluten free diet, Identification of nutritional deficiencies, Access to reputable support group and Continuous follow-up. Gluten-free Diet excludes the grains wheat, barley and rye. Other grains are non-toxic unless contaminated with wheat or barley and rye. Strict monitoring is thus needed for children with celiac disease and are monitored for adherence to gluten free diet, nutritional status and other such complications of celiac disease. Celiac disease is though not very common but a suspected case should always be investigated for celiac disease as per routine and specific investigations. A strict gluten free diet is advised and it should be monitored regularly. Regular monitoring of patients with clinical assessment and other investigations must be done. Consequential clinical manifestations must be taken care of accordingly. Aregular GFD is necessary for disease. Patient should be counseled regarding regular check up and diet plans.

Abstract

“A study to assess the knowledge and attitude of rickshaw driver's regarding tobacco and its harmful effects at Mohindergarh (Haryna) in a view to develop and distribute study material on hazards of tobacco.” sample size consists of 100 Auto Rickshaw, with the objective of knowledge and attitude of rickshaw driverss regarding tobacco and its harmful effect .the descriptive research designwas used, the sampling technique was convenient sampling technique, The study results on knowledge level showed that 78 (78%) had inadequate knowledge, 15 (15%) had moderate knowledge and 7 (7%) had adequate knowledge and conclude that rickshaw drivers having less knowledge on tobacco and its harmful effects. that (70%) samples are having favorable attitude, (25%) samples are having moderate favorable attitude and (5%) having unfavorable attitude regarding tobacco and its harmful effects.

Abstract

The present study assess the awareness among differently able person (locomotor disability) about availability and lacuna of various rights and the facilities for them Study was cross-sectional and participants were given a self structured questionnaire. HUDA complex, Rohtak. Percentage, simple proportion. Study participants were 300 differently able persons (150 from urban and 150 from villages) having disability more than forty percent. Many participants suffered by polio (70%) out of which most of them were not given polio drops (90%). Maximum were not satisfied with the disability certificate made by doctors (98). All of them did not wish for their children to be disable (100%), very less number of male (20 %) and female (7%) were m jobs out of which many have used the disability quota(70%). Most of disables did not know Commission for disable persons (90%), Disability Act (70%) and Rehabilitation council of India (96%). Most of parents did not wish to take their children in any function (80%). 50% are 12 passed. Maximum have felt insult due to disability (91%). Most of buildings were not disable friendly (95%). Participants were found lacking of knowledge of rights and facilities available for them and the conditions were worse for those who are living in the villages. There is a need to develop and promote awareness among the differently able person in order to improve their life style and living standard so that they can live a quality of life as of human being.

Abstract

With the rapid development the society the persons are having feelings o f sadness, loss, anger, or frustrations which interfere with everyday life for an extended period o f time resulting in the appearance o f various psychological problems, out o f which depression is most common having a prevalance o f 15.1% in India. Severe depression causes various physiological abnormalities leading to various co-morbid conditions. But there is very little literature available about moderate depression; hence the present study is designed to study the effect o f moderate depression on the autonomic system by galvanic skin response and cold pressor test. We studied 40 male patients (to avoid gender difference) o f moderate depression and 40 normal subjects of* same age group at rest in supine position (to avoid posture effect). Galvanic skin response was recorded and compared between these two groups. Comparison of*these two groups showed that GSR is not significantly different in moderate depression patients than that from the normal subjects. Though the major depression is associated with various co- morbid conditions but moderate depression hardly affects the autonomic system. Hence it is better to diagnose and treat the depression at moderate state.

Abstract

The current Covid-19 pandemic has changed the way of teaching in medical institutes. Now online classes are common method of teaching by using virtual platforms like Zoom, google classrooms, google meet, etc. We conducted this study to know the experience of students about online classes. This is an observational, questionnaire-based study conducted in PGIMS Rohtak for the duration of 2 weeks. Study subjects were first year MBBS, BDS and Nursing students of PGIMS Rohtak. Total 25 questions were asked and responses were recorded in the form of yes or no. The questionnaire was prepared as google form and sent to students as electronic format on Facebook/WhatsApp of different streams for voluntarily participation. On the basis of feedback received from students it was observed that classroom classes are better than virtual classes. Approximately 60% of the students face difficulty with technology needed to attend online classes and 30% of the students didn't have required gadgets and internet connection for virtual classes. Around 60% of the students find it difficult to concentrate and staying on tract during online teaching thus less attentive and 15% of the students face fatigue and pain in eyes. Classroom teaching is more effective in terms of providing more understanding, more convenient to attend and give more opportunity to ask queries.
