Abstract

Every year many students are leaving their homes to go college. This brings new opportunities for individuals, but will face them to challenges and pressures like homesickness. India Universities in Asia attract large population of Iranian students and many Iranian graduated students in India Universities are working in Iran. This study examined the relationship between self-efficacy with Iranian students' homesickness in India. Research method was descriptive and study population was all male and female students who are currently studying in India. Through available sample, 100 male and female students (77 boys, 23girls) at Banaras Hindu University, JNU and Delhi University responded to questionnaires on February 26 (International Students Day at these universities). For data collection, Schwartz Self-efficacy questionnaire (1999) and Van Vilet's Homesickness Scale (2001) were used. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze data, and the data were analyzed by Pearson correlation test. The findings suggested that self efficacy has significant and reverse relationship with "Nostalgia for family" and "loneliness" of homesickness's components, and has direct and significant correlation with "adaptation" of homesickness, finally there was no significant correlation between self efficacy and "the desire to return home"(p<0.05). By using of results of this research and studies have been conducted on homesickness, we can identify individuals at risk for mental breakdown which has significant correlation with poor academic and social performance in university to do timely actions for interventions in controlling stress and prevention from depressive symptoms and self-handicapping.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of group counseling based on cognitive-behavioral on mental health in gifted students. In this study, The population consisted of all mal gifted high school students' in babol city, 24 students were randomly selected and General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-28) tested, Then randomly divided into two groups (n=12) and controls (n=12). Group counseling based on cognitive-behavioral during 8 sessions, each sessions 2 hour for test group were presented. Data analysis was done through the independent, dependent t-test and analysis of covariance. comparison of the results of tests on the pre-test and post-test showed group counseling based on cognitive-behavioral significantly increase mental health components students in the experimental group compared with the control group. As a result, group counseling based on cognitive-behavioral can be used as an effective intervention to increased the mental health of gifted students by counselors and psychotherapists.

Abstract

Bruxism is one of the most prevalent illnesses of sleeping which the teeth or the jaw of the attacked people will lock and cause to other problems. Hence, this research is done in order to measure the outbreak of bruxism in sleeping of three to seven-year-old Sisters and brothers suffering developmental and externalizing and internalizing disorders. In one sectional survey, 261 children suffering developmental and externalizing and internalizing disorders were selected by accessible sampling who were referring to Pastor hostelry clinic, Imam Khomeini clinic, private clinics of child neurologists, autism welfare centers, physical-motor disabled welfare centers. The diagnosis of bruxism was based on the criteria of American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) from the reports of parents. For gathering data, Persian version of the children's sleep habits questionnaire (CSHQ), preschool behavior questionnaire were used these questionnaires were filled by parents and analyzed using the chi-square test. Of 261 children who were under study, 18% of them are suffering developmental disorders, 6.89% suffering internalizing disorders, 6.14% suffering externalizing disorders, and from those suffering externalizing disorders, 4.99 suffering bruxism. According to the concerns of parents in the time of bruxism of their children when they are sleeping, notification is required and the high rate of prevalence of bruxism in preschool children during their sleeping, rationalize the need of doing more research on this area.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate effects of physical fitness on mental health of housewives aged 30-50 years. Population of this study included Shimiranat's housewives in Tehran that were selected according to official statistics 375 of 311,108 of total. A quasi experimental design with pre-test and post-test and a control group was used. Research instrument is Geriatric Health Questionnaire with 28items. Participants were housewives who aged 30-50 years and live in Shimiranat of Tehran (N=60). Data were analyzed by using SPSS software version 18 and then Covariance test, Shapiro Wilk test, and Levene test were used. The results showed that housewives who have good physical fitness are in better condition in field of anxiety and sleep disorder, social dysfunction symptoms, depressive symptoms,general health and fitness in comparison with women who don't have good physical fitness.
