The present study attempts to study the efficacy of Emotional Empowerment Technique (EET) in overcoming Shame and Guilt in people living with HIV/AIDS. The sample comprised of 15 HIV positive male patients between the age group of 20-40 years seeking treatment from Civil Hospital, Ludhiana. The patients were assessed by State Shame and Guilt Scale (SSGS), which measured the state level of shame, guilt andpnde. Emotional Empowerment Technique(EET)was applied on them for 5 days and again same scale was administered. To study the efficacy of the ETT,t test was applied and the results revealed significant differences on pre and post test.Keywords

The purpose of the study was to examine the role of self-efficacy on Quality of Life of people living with HIV/AIDS. The sample of the present investigation comprised 225 subjects (male=116 andfemale=109) in the age range of 20 to 50 years from lower and middle class families. Only those subjects were included who were able to understand, read and write hindi/Punjabi/English. The HIV/AIDS patients were randomly selected from various ICTC and ART centers in Punjab. Self-efficacy was studied by using HIV self- efficacy (HIV-SE) questionnaire (Shively et al., 2002) and Quality oflife was measured by using MOS-HIV Health Survey (Wu, Rubin et al.,1991). Pearson Product Moment coefficient of correlation was computed to study the role of self-efficacy in quality of life. The results revealed that various domains of self-efficacy like managing depression, managing fatigue, managing symptoms and getting support were found to be positively correlated with physical functioning, cognitive functioning, mental health and QOL.Keywords

Ongmally developed by Goddard about 100 years back for the sensory motor training of children with feeble mind, Seguin Form Board (SFB) Test is still one of the most popular test to assess intellectual functioning in younger children. The task on SFB requires form and shape perception through application of gestah principles including figure ground rule. Colour contrast develop contour that facilitate children to perceive object easily from its background hence it may help them to perform faster on test. This might be the reason that colour contrast/bichromatic board was originally designed and standardized. However, presently large colour variation is being found amongst the available boards in market which seems clearly a violation of norms for testing. This variation color may adversely affect the performance of the child To examine this hypothesis experimental study was designed to evaluate the effect of board colour variations on performance while working on it. After taking baseline observations of two groups on mono-chromatic board, performance was recorded on bi-chromatic board for experimental group while keeping all other testing conditions constant. Results of the study demonstrated that children who have given bi-chromatics board performed faster than those who worked on monochromatic board. Thus colour variation of board has significant effect on performance of the child Thus It is recommended that only original bi-chromatic board should be used for testing.Keywords

The present study investigated the role of relational risk factors in substance abuse. The sample comprised 300 participants 18 to 19 years old from different schools and colleges of Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula. To select the subjects with substance abuse problem from the general population a screening measure was administered. Apart from those standardized measures like Parental Monitoring and Peer pressure were administered. Application of correlation and step wise multiple regression revealed that peer pressure positively contributed to substance abuse whereas the correlation and contribution parental monitoring was negative.Keywords
