Abstract

Time perception encompasses different subjective time experiences, like: (1) interval length (duration) estimation, and (2) subjective passage of time judgments, defined as the perceived speed of time passage. This study aims to investigate and clarify the impact of task difficulty, temporal relevance and hedonic interest on both interval length judgments and subjective passage of time judgments. Another aim of the study is to investigate whether interval length judgments and subjective passage of time judgments are related. The results of the present study indicate that task difficulty and temporal relevance have a significant impact on interval length judgments. In terms of their interaction, the results show that when the task is simple, a high temporal relevance leads to interval length overestimates. Another major finding of this study was that subjective time passage judgments seem to be affected by the same factors as interval length estimation. In other words, results indicate that both temporal relevance and level of task difficulty have a significant impact on subjective time passage judgments. Also, we found a significant correlation between interval length judgments and subjective passage of time judgments, indicating that a longer interval estimate is associated with a slower perceived time passage. The results of the present study are discussed in terms of the attentional models of time perception.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to explore the information processing of words related to food, shape and body parts in women of obese and normal weights. Twenty severely obese patients, 20 obese patients and 20 normal weight individuals, all of whom were female, were assessed using implicit and explicit memory tasks. The memory tasks involved words related to food, shape and body parts. Results showed biases in implicit memory measures. Severely obese women completed significantly more food-related words than other words. Obese patients completed significantly more food- and shape-related words than did the other groups. Normal weight females did not show any bias on the implicit memory measures. No explicit memory biases were found in any groups.

Abstract

One of the primary causes of stress is believed to be too much emphasis on winning; it is a common-held belief that the "winning at all costs" attitude has been taken too far. Another huge stressor for student athletes is time management balancing school and sports is not an easy task, and can prove to be very stressful. Other stressful events can pile on, eventually leading to what has come to be called Burnout Present investigation is an attempt to study Management of Stress, and Anxiety among athletes It was hypothesized that Level of stress and anxiety will be higher among girls athlete as compared to the boys athlete. The influence of Muscular Relaxation Technique and Breathing control will be helpful in reduction of the level of Stress, and Anxiety among girls and boys athlete.Management of Stress, and Anxiety is a set of dependent variable, whereas Muscular Relaxation Technique is a set of independent variable. It is a field experiment in which Muscular Relaxation Technique used in before and after sessions. Anxiety test by Sinha and Sinha (SCAT) (1968), Life Stress Scale, Gunthey (1998) tests were used. 575 students were randomly selected, out of which 200 were finally taken for the present investigation which was further divided into two groups 100 boys and 100 girls athlete. Finding confirms hypotheses.

Abstract

The present study was conducted to assess the level of Behavioral Assessment of M.R. Children. For this purpose a sample of 10 M.R. children as a subject was taken and a scale of Madras Development Programming System (MDPS) scale with six domains by Jay Chandran was administered. The data have been analyzed by applying the student 't' test to determine the significance of mean difference between pre&post activities of M.R. children. On the basis of the finding of this study it may be concluded that there were significant differences was found between pre&post activities of M.R children.

Abstract

The presents study was conducted to assess the level of neurosis in normal individuals versus Tuberculosis (TB) patients and effect of gender on it. For this purpose an incidental sample of 80 subjects, 25 to 60 years of age: 20 normal males; 20 normal females; 20 Tuberculosis male patients and 20 tuberculosis female patients was taken and the Medico-Psychological Questionnaire (MPQ) by Bharath Raj was administered. The data have been analyzed by applying the student f test to determine the significance of mean difference between groups of normal individuals and T.B. patients. On the basis of the finding of this study it may be concluded that on the whole of general neuroticism there is no large differences in normal and T.B. individuals but on some specific factors of neurosis there were significant difference was found.
