Occupational stress and burnout are the global issues in this present era of changing paradigms, where the protective effect of coping and facilitative effect of emotional intelligence has a significant role to play. The present study was conducted on a sample of 600 healthcare professionals from the private hospitals of Delhi, NCR. The sample included nursing, support staff (security, pharmacy, front office, housekeeping and dietetics/food and beverages staff) and doctors with equal number of male and female participants The Occupational Stress Index, Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI-HSS), Ways of Coping Questionnaire and Multidimensional Measure of Emotional Intelligence were the measures used in the study. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was applied to explore the gender differences among the three occupational groups. Results indicate that the main effect for gender and occupation type is significant in various dimensions of occupational stress, burnout, coping and emotional intelligence; whereas the interaction effect of gender and occupation type is significant only for the managing emotions dimension of emotional intelligence.Keywords

Healthcare sector has always been an area of interest among researchers. The healthcare staff is physically and emotionally so exhausted that it results in occupational stress and hence burnout. The present study was conducted on a sample of 600 healthcare professionals from the private hospitals of Delhi, NCR. The sample included nursing, support staff (security, pharmacy, front office, housekeeping, and dietetics/food and beverages staff) and doctors with equal number of male and female participants. The occupational stress index and Maslach Burnout Inventory-Human Service Survey were the measures used in the study. The case studies revealed immense pressure, workload and sufferings of the healthcare professionals.Keywords

The aim of the present study is to examine the relationship between psychological capital, job satisfaction and turnover intention of LIC employees a leading insurance company in India. A sample of 124 employees including 100 males and 24 females is selected for the investigation. PsyCap was measured with the use of the 24-item psychological capital questionnaire (PCQ) by Luthans, Youssef, and Avolio (2007). The Job Satisfaction Scale (JSS) was developed by Muthayya (1973) and Turnover Intention assessed through Shore and Martin (1989) scale. Findings of study shows that there is a positive significant correlation between psychological capital and job satisfaction and psychological capital and turnover intention. It is also reveals that there is significant difference in male and female's job satisfaction but no significant difference is observed in turnover intention.Keywords

This study was designed to examine the effectiveness of J. P. Das's PASS Reading Enhancement Program (PREP) in reading and spelling deficits and among PASS processes of children with reading disabilities. A sample of 140 students (9-12 years), 70 in control group and 70 in experimental group were tested on Wide Range Achievement Test 4 (WRAT 4) and Das Battery of Cognitive Assessment System in pre and post test conditions. Reading disabled children were diagnosed as scoring below 16th percentile on particular WRAT 4 and CAS subtest. The experimental group received PREP remedial intervention for 4 months and was retested on a parallel form of WRAT 4 and CAS. Results revealed that control group did not differ in pre- and post-test conditions in any of the areas of reading, spelling, and PASS processes. However, the experimental group recorded remarkable improvement in reading, spelling and simultaneous and successive synthesis (p<.001). The findings provide an evidence for the validity of PREP in improving upon these areas of deficit among reading disabled children.Keywords

The purpose of this study was to explore the effectiveness of Naglieri's Planning Facilitation Method (PF) in mathematical deficits and among PASS processes of children with mathematical disabilities. A sample of 140 students (9-12 years), 70 in control group and 70 in experimental group were tested on Wide Range Achievement Test - 4 (WRAT - 4) and Das Battery of Cognitive Assessment System (CAS) in pre and post test conditions. Mathematical disabled children were diagnosed as scoring below 16th percentile on particular WRAT - 4 and CAS subtest. The experimental group received PF intervention for 4 months and was retested on WRAT - 4 and CAS. Results revealed that control group did not differ in any of the areas of maths and PASS processes. However, the experimental group recorded remarkable improvement on math computation and planning and simultaneous synthesis (P<.001). The findings provide an evidence of planning facilitation method's effectiveness in enhancing these deficit areas of children with mathematical disability.Keywords
