The aim of the current empirical piece of research is to examine the predicting effect of neuroticism on marital satisfaction. Following the stratified random sampling technique 160-male partners of married couples within the age range of 38-40 yrs were drawn from Raipur city to serve as participants. Correlational research design was employed to see the predicting effect of neuroticism. Marital satisfaction scale constructed and standardized by Bhagat and Hasan (2013) was used to asses the marital satisfaction. For assessing neuroticism the Hindi Version of Eysenck Personality Questionnaire by Jitendra Mohan (1985) was used. The result indicated that the neuroticism is a significant predictor of marital satisfaction.Keywords

The objective of the present systematic review was to examine the role of acculturation experience, cultural intelligence and social support on acculturative stress. 30 peer reviewed studies (full text) were identified (with inclusion criteria) through the J-Gate Plus database, covers the period from 1994 to 2014, using the search terms acculturation experiences, social support, cultural intelligence and acculturative stress. Six parameters are decided to assess internal validity of reviewed studies as recommend by Zhang and Goodson (2011), viz., research design, validity coefficients of criterion measure on own data, reliability coefficients of criterion measure on own data, validity and reliability coefficients of different predictor measures on own data, statistical analyses, effect size. Reviewed studies provide contradictory information regarding direct effect of social support on acculturative stress. Further, reviewed studies have insufficient external and internal validity. The information of acculturative stress under within country migrations has not yet been ascertained. This present systematic review concluded that acculturation experience, cultural intelligence and social support are insubstantial predictors of acculturative stress. The theoretical and practical issues have been discussed.Keywords

The objective of the present piece of work was to development and validation of acculturative stress scale for within country migrated students in India. Following the incidental cum random sampling technique, 200 North Indian students within the age range of 18 to 24 years were drawn from the different institution of Warangal districts, Telangana, India to serve as participants in the present research work. Dimensions of acculturative stress were decided on the basis of the review of the literature on acculturative stress. Items were pooled out by unstructured interviews. Content validity was analysed by content validity index (CVI) suggested by (Lynn, 1986). The item analysis was done by corrected item-total correlation. The exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was employed for explored all possible factor. The confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was employed to confirm explored factors. Moreover, reliability, convergent, discriminant and concurrent validities were also examined. EFA of 19-item pool yielded a 16-item measure with five independent dimensions. The items communalities ranges are greater than .400. Overall variance explained by all these factors is 63.50%. CFA also confirmed the explored all five factors from the EFA. The findings indicated that ASS-16 has sufficient convergent and discriminant validity. The composite reliability was more than .700 for each of the five factors. All five factors of the ASS-16 are significantly associated with criterion measure. It is concluded that there is sufficient empirical and statistical evidence of internal consistency and construct validity of ASS-16. The theoretical and practical issues have been discussed.Keywords

Cognitive deficits are the common featnre of schizophrenia and affect the whole fhnetioning of patient. The main aim of the present study is to examine the predictive effect of verbal fluency and processing speed on fhnctional disability in schizophrenia. 30 schizophrenia patients were selected as sample of the study. Processing speed was assessed by digit symbol substitution test, verbal fluency assessed by controlled oral word association test; functional disability assessed through WHO disability assessment schedule. Brief psychiatric rating scale was used to measure severity of illness. Hierarchical regression analysis used to find the relationship between functional disability and processing speed and verbal fluency. The result indicated that processing speed (-.683, p<0.01) and verbal fluency (-.559, p<0.01) age (.402, p<0.05) and education (-.502, p<0.01), duration of illness (.612, p<0.01) and severity of illness (.580, p<0.01) significantly predicted functional disability but gender showed no relationship with functional disability. Cognitive dysfunction atfects the functioning of patients with schizophrenia. This paper may help to understand the role of processing speed and verbal fluency in functioning of the patients and also help to develop intervention programs.Keywords
