Abstract

As emotions do play central role in the life of an individual, one is expected to have higher emotional maturity in order to lead a effective life. It is also true that our behaviour is constantly influenced by the emotional maturity level that we possess. Especially, the adolescents who are observed to be highly emotional in their dealings need to be studied. Emotions are great motivating forces throughout the span of human life; affecting aspirations, actions and thoughts of an individual. Adolescents is a period when the behaviour getting influenced highly by the emotions. Emotional maturity can be understood in terms of ability of self control which in turn is result of thinking and learning. People with achievement motives are motivated by standards of excellence, delineated roles and responsibilities and concrete, timely feedback. And the power motive is activated when people are allowed to have an impact, impress those in power, or beat competitors. The present study objective is to study the Impact of Working and Non-working Mothers on the Emotional Maturity and Achievement Motivation of Adolescents.For this research, 60 adolescents (30 adolescents of working mothers and 30 adolescents of non-working) from the age range of 12 to 17 years were randomly selected from the public schools of Delhi and NCR Region.The results reported no significant difference between emotional maturity and achievement motivation of adolescents of working and non-working mothers and no gender difference was also found between the two. The study provides further research across other sections of society to uncover the possible differences or similarities that may be present.

Abstract

The key function of a child's family is to raise the young person in as healthy a manner as possible (e.g., see Bornstein, 1995). The parents' role is to provide the child with a safe, secure, nurturing, loving, and supportive environment, one that allows the offspring to have a happy and healthy youth; this sort of experience allows the youth to develop the knowledge, values, attitudes, and behaviours necessary to become an adult making a productive contribution to self, family, community, and society (Lerner, et al., 1995).Authoritarian/ Autocratic Parenting is a style which believes in giving orders and giving punishment. It is highly demanding but is not responsive. Although authoritarian parents generally have good intentions, and want to teach their children to grow up to be good people they attempt to do so by using tools such as harsh punishment and shame.. What a parent does to fulfil these "duties" of his or her role is termed parenting; in other words, parenting is a term that summarizes behaviours used by a person--usually, but, of course, not exclusively, the mother or father-to raise a child. For both adolescents and their parents, adolescence is a time of excitement and of anxiety, of happiness and of troubles, of discovery and of bewilderment and of breaks with the past and yet of links with the future. The present research aims to study the impact of autocratic parenting on adolescents' frustration tolerance. The sample size was 60 school going teenagers 30 boys and 30 girls. It was hypothesized that there would be a significant relationship between autocratic parenting and aggression. Also it was hypothesized that rejection, neglect and utopian expectation and aggression of boys and girls were expected to be significantly correlated. The study reported significant relationship between autocratic parenting and aggression of boys and girls. The effect of autocratic parenting on the aggression (frustration tolerance) was seen significant in boys and girls. Also the relation of rejection, neglect, Utopian expectation and aggression was seen significant in both boys and girls. The study provides an opportunity for further research across age and other variables that could be related with it and to uncover the possible differences or similarities that may be present. Also it adds to the already existing data pool.

Abstract

Diabetes and Arthritis are rapidly rising globally and the relation of psycho-social stress and happiness to diabetes and arthritis is not well investigated. Assessing from a denser perspective, women with arthritis and diabetes encounter numerous challenges in their life such as lack of sleep, pain, getting easily tired and stress. Therefore women with arthritis and diabetes are prone to depression, anxiety and other mental problems. The present study aims to assess the perceived stress and happiness of women suffering from Arthritis and Diabetes.A sample of 80 women was taken up for the survey consisting of 40 women suffering from arthritis and 40 women suffering from diabetes. They were given Oxford Happiness Questionnaire and Perceived Stress Scale to assess their level of happiness and perceived stress respectively. The results indicated that there is a significant relationship between stress and happiness among women suffering from diabetes and women suffering from arthritis. A significant negative correlation was found between happiness and perceived stress among women with diabetes and arthritis. Thus stress perceived in women with Arthritis was found more than women with Diabetes and level of Happiness was found low in women with Arthritis than Women with Diabetes.

Abstract

There are numerous parameters that have to be taken into consideration when considering the relationship between the media and terrorism. The relationship is complicated by the use of the media by terrorists to optimize the psychological impact of their acts of terror beyond the immediate location of the act itself, and what could cynically be described as the media's use of terrorism to attract audiences. The invasion of a terrorist victim's privacy is the most direct and visible harm from media coverage of terrorism. The invasion of privacy by the media both during and following a terrorist event such as kidnapping, for instance, can be as traumatic to victims and their families as the actual kidnapping itself. If business executives dicker about ransom, for instance, company management will be perceived as insensitive or materialistic in its concern. Thus, publicized ransom decisions can adversely effect executive morale and increase exposure to future terrorist attacks. The public has a valid interest in preserving domestic order.' The media, especially the broadcaster, can often frustrate police management by interfering with on-going operations, compounding the pressure on authorities, and impairing their ability to make decisions. By its very nature, terrorism is meant to capture the attention of the public. It is directed at changing the way society thinks. Modern technology, through television and the capabilities of global satellite communications systems, has provided terror groups with a critical communications instrument through which the terrorist receives instantaneous worldwide publicity. Terrorists use the media as a form of political advertising. Since they cannot buy television time, they gain coverage through commission of terrorist acts. Just as early television sponsors produced shows as vehicles for their commercials, 30 media terrorists now provide live drama-murder and kidnapping-in return for "advertising time".

Abstract

The concept of globalization or internationalization of certain wars, which were result of terrorist activities worldwide, as well as the high attention of terrorism coverage broadcast worldwide might open up better opportunities to journalists particularly to those who work in democratic countries like U.S.Aand India to improve their coverage. The context is the key: the context of the operation methodology, follow of guidelines of regulatory bodies, and of the journalistic culture and of the global environment. It is very important how media presents consequences of terrorist acts, how information is transmitted to public. Television and press have had a significant impact on how public receives terrorist acts and their consequences. As a result, nearly each public survey indicates that responders almost anywhere put fear of terrorist acts o the top of their priority list. In order to reach out on a conclusion on this paper, researcher has gone through number of books related to terrorism and media, has examined significant number of journals which deals with core issue of terrorism and its coverage by media.

Abstract

The motive of the present study was aimed to examine the significant ditference in the quality of life among working couples and non working couples. It is intended to explore working and non-working couples explanations and involvements of their roles in society. Keeping in view the objective of the study, an empirical investigation was undertaken and thereafter data were formulated and evaluated by the Correlation, T-test and ANOVA test. Idea of studying about the non-working and working couples because of the leading unsuccessful life of couples. Normally, couples have to perform many responsibilities all together, especially when the couples are working couples; have to play a dual role as a family and working responsibilities. Total 200 couples (100 non-working couples & 100 working couples) participated in the age range of 25-40 years in this study. The results demonstrated that working couples are generally indicated better quality of life. It is investigated that working couples have abetter lifestyle as compared to non-working couples. Working couples satisfying major forecasters of life scale quality than nonworking couples.
