Emotional Intelligence and Academic Achievement of Ninth Graders: A Comparative Study of Boys and Girls

The present study was an attempt to investigate emotional intelligence and academic achievement ofboys and girls of ninth graders. The study was carried out on a sample of 100 students (50 boys + 50 girls) from five randomly selected Government Model Schools of Chandigarh. The findings revealed that majority ofboys had good followed by low level of emotional intelligence and academic achievement. On the other hand, majority of girls had good and high level of emotional intelligence and academic achievement, respectively. There existed highly significant difference between boys and girls with regard to both the variables.
