A Study of Perfectionism and Psychological Distress among Male and Female Adolescents

The present study was aimed to ascertain the significance of perfectionism and psychological distress among male and female adolescents. The sample was comprised of N= 200 (100 male and 100 female) eleventh grade students. The APS-R and PGI Health Questionnaire were used to measure the perfectionism and psychological distress respectively. The t-test and correlation analysis were used for present study. Results show that male and female adolescents significantly differ with each other on psychological distress, standard and discrepancy of perfectionism. Furthermore, it was also found that female adolescents scored higher on psychological distress as compared to their male counterparts. Moreover, in correlation, standard and order scores was found significant negative relationship with psychological distress while positive relationship was found between discrepancy and psychological distress among adolescents.
