Homosexuality - a Socio-Medicolegal Study

"Homosexuality" implies: A) sexual behaviour between organisms of same sex or to a B) sexual orientation. Sexual orientation is only attraction to individuals of the same sex. Homosexuality is contrasted with heterosexuality (attraction, behaviour or orientation between opposite sex), bisexuality (both sexes) and asexuality (neither sex). Etymologically the word "homosexual" is Greek. The Latin hybrid with homo, derived from the Greek word for same, thus implies sexual acts and affections between members of the same sex In English the word "Gay" denotes male homosexuality and Lesbianism denotes female homosexuality. M.S.M (men who have sex with men) is the terminology used at present. This study was carried carried out in Ahmednagar city of Maharashtra State, India.

We have studied homosexuality in relation with:

1) Age.

2) Sex.

3) Religion.

4) Socioeconomic status.

5) Education.

6) Motivation for act.

7) Active or Passive agent.

8) Type of homosexuality.

9) Venereal diseases.

10) Marital status.

11) Use of condom.

12) Promiscuty.

13) Criminal behaviour.

Ahmednagar is one of the bigger districts of Maharashtra State. The study was carried out with help of N.G.O:

“Snehalaya” M.S.M were identified and approached in SNEHALAYA and the study was carried out.
