In this paper, the influence of composite reinforcing elements in the construction of pavements on expansive clayey subgrades is presented. Natural fabrics such as coir and jute have been used.CBR method is employed for the design of flexible pavements in most of the design offices even though it is empirical in nature, since the method is simple and convenient to apply and the CBR value of the subgrade indirectly gives the strength of subgrade soil. The results are analyzed effectively by introducing two non-dimensional factors namely, Effective Depth Ratio (EDR) and Strength Benefit Ratio (SBR). It is found that both CBR and SBR values increases with provision of composite reinforcing elements. Based on the favorable results obtained, it can be concluded that expansive soil can be successfully stabilized using composite reinforcing elements. Keywords
