MPPT controller is proposed for hybrid power generation scheme using solar and wind energy for isolated applications. The MPPT controller is designed to vary the duty-cycle of the SAZZ converter automatically such that to maintain the load voltage constant. The hybrid scheme comprises one set of fixed capacitor bank and a parallel connected three-phase fixed frequency pulse width modulation (PWM) inverter fed from the solar panels which provide the reactive power requirements to the induction generator. The PV-wind hybrid system returns the lowest unit cost values to maintain the same level of DPSP. For all load demands the levelised energy cost for PV-wind hybrid system is always lower than that of standalone solar PV or wind system. The PV-wind hybrid option is techno-economically viable for rural electrification. The simulation results are shown that voltage output is able to be control in steady state condition for SAZZ converter by using this methodology.

In this paper we propose a new method to find the fuzzy optimal solution of assignment problems with fuzzy parameters. We develop fuzzy version of Hungarian algorithm for the solution of fuzzy assignment problems without converting them to classical assignment problems. The proposed method is easy to understand and to apply for finding solution of fuzzy assignment problems occurring in real life situations. To illustrate the proposed method an example is provided and the obtained results are discussed.

The purpose of this paper is to propose a new fuzzy performance appraisal system (FPAS). The proposed method accounts both intangible qualities of performance and quantitative measure of output of an employee in a structured appraisal system. The implication procedure of FPAS comprises of collection of appraisals from the supervisors, converting them into fuzzy numbers and derives the performance evaluation score of an employee. To rank the fuzzy numbers we use the Scoring method. The proposed fuzzy performance appraisal system is more objective oriented, structured, informative and rational. Numerical example demonstrates the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed method. Keywords

The new economic policy and WTO regime have facilitated the entry of multinationals and have resulted in a competitive environment in the country. Technical manpower can hardly survive or perform their professional duties efficiently without an industry interaction during their study at engineering college. The engineering curriculum and training in the institutions do not keep pace with the technological advancements in the related fields, as it is more theoretical. At present a widening gap exists between the theory taught in the institutions and the practice in industries. Introducing the industrial training in engineering curriculum can eliminate this widening gap. This paper proposes a scheme for industrial training to degree level engineering education. The availability of industries when compared to the strength of students are a very few and hence, the industrial training at the same time proves to be a difficult task. Training can also be imparted by making use of virtual training centres of virtual labs, which allow the students to understand how to handle the equipment, acquire knowledge and skills. The industrial training and exposure to industrial environment motivates them to be entrepreneurs.- Implementation of Slip-Controller for Induction Motor Drive Employing Indirect Matrix Converter

A new scheme to design the proport ional integral (PI) type controller for speed control of a constant Volts/Hz (V/F) three phase induction motor drive employing a matrix converter has been presented. An approximate linear model of induction motor operating in constant Volts/Hz scheme is derived and a design example of a slip controller for a three phase motor is presented. Performance of the designed controller is verified with results from simulation using Mat lab. Keywords

In the micro grid system, the distributed energy resource (DER)-based single-phase inverter is usually adopted. In order to reduce conversion losses, the key is to save costs and size by removing any kind of transformer as well as reducing the power devices. The objective of this paper is to study a novel nine-level Multistring inverter topology for DERs-based dc/ac conversion system. In this study, a high step-up converter is introduced as a front-end stage to improve the conversion efficiency of conventional boost converters and to stabilize the output dc voltage of various DERs such as photovoltaic and fuel cell modules for use with the simplified multilevel inverter. The simplified multilevel inverter requires only four active switches and eight such cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverters. The studied Multistring inverter topology offers strong advantages such as improved output waveforms. Keywords
