Abstract

There was a wide variability in the levels of awareness about eco-tourism among the tourists, the local villagers and the forest officials. Of the two components, viz. environmental and social welfare, the latter was not understood by many. While nature, wildlife and its products were the aesthetic needs of the tourists, the indigenous values formed a part of their recreation, physical and mental relaxation. Locally available services like guidance, hospitality, asset maintenance, product sales, etc. helped in meeting these needs. This resulted in overall improvement in the quality of life. Better promotion and training strategies with adequate planning and ensured local cooperation were the prerequisites to bring the dual effects on forest conservation and community development.

Abstract

The body of Chanda ranga is transparent translucent except the body cavity which is lined by a thin silvery connective tissue screen, that makes it opaque. Digestive system has been described taking mouth, bucco-pharynx. oesophagus, stomach, duodenum, intestine, rectum and hepatopancreas. The upwardly directed and protrusible mouth; presence of premaxillary, maxillary, vomarine, palatine, mandibular, lingual, supra and infra pharyngeal, gill raker and gill arch teeth; long spiny gill rakers and relative gut length 0.8 are the carnivorous features.Contrary to other carnivorous fishes, pyloric caecum is absent in Chanda ranga.The stomach is divided into cardiac and pyloric part, duodenum, intestine and rectum are present. Single layered mucosa with goblets and smaller villi, were observed. The longitudinal muscle layer is external to circular muscles. Gastric glands are present in cardiac stomach and only pancreatic islets are present in between hepatic tissues. Well developed three lobed liver, attached to gut is present on the left side.

Abstract

One of the most important controllable nutritional problems in India and other developing countries today is vitamin A deficiency. It is estimated that every year about 70,000 children are likely to develop corneal lesions due to this deficiency. The problem is considered to be of public heath significance in 36 countries in South East Asia, the Western Pacific and Africa. About 20 to 40 million children are estimated to have mild Vitamin A deficiency at any point of time.

Abstract

This article deals with the role of the elements of Total Quality Management (TQM) such as leadership, people involvement and TQM culture in the upgradation of technical institutes; along with certain remedial measures to be taken by the leadership to overcome the problems of technical education so as to serve the requirements of customers of engineering graduates. Abstract

Holistic education focuses on the fullest possible development of the person, encouraging individuals to become the very best or finest that they can be and enabling them to experience all they can from life and reach their goals (Forbes 2003). it is more than the education of the whole student and addresses the very broadest development of the whole person at the cognitive and affective levels. it emphasizes the education of the student beyond the confines of the classroom and moves the concept of a child-centered educational approach to a much more radical programme of education. Holistic education is based on the principle that students find identity and purpose in life by connecting to the community, nature, and humanitarian values. The purpose of holistic education is not only to prepare students for academic success, but to also enable them to learn the challenges of living as a whole (learning about themselves, about healthy relationships, about social responsibility, compassion, etc). The present paper explains the features of holistic approach and characteristics of a critical learner. Also it gives certain implications for student and teacher and sites some advantages of this.
