Methanolic extract of leaf of Butea monosperma was evaluated for Antiinflammatory activity on carrageenan induced models, in albino rats. The activity was found to be dose dependant. Overall results of this study suggest that the extract possesses significant anti-inflammatory activity. Keywords

The data of student's academic performance is studied as the application of fuzzy-genetic(FG) approach. Discrete and continuous data interpretation are overviewed by the linguistic classes and then its representation over the fuzzy-genetic algorithm in this chapter. This dual method has the advantages are noticed as classvariable transformation, language-number generalisation and characteristic-operation simulation. Fuzzy-genetic algorithm is a tool to study the data over the representation of randomness to weight. Hence the data represents as the discrete classes by itself as the self-organized operator under the fuzzy-genetic technique. Keywords

The Academic Performance of the Students interacts with the Data Management System. The performances of the student are recorded under some classes. These classes are well defined under some significant characteristics. There is various hidden information which lies with general set arrangements. The fuzzy set reforms this into membership function and fit into certain set theoretic representation. This paper proposes a new cluster analysis technique based on Euclidean Distance Metric (EDM) or L2 Metric. The advantages of this method are efficient and simple. Keywords

With the increased life expectancies, changing demographics, India's elderly population is at the highest ever 8.1% of total population, making it imperative for both policy makers and practitioners to be concerned with the well-being of the elderly and their successful ageing. An active life, positive interpersonal relationships, positive engagement and continued employment are markers of successful ageing and high psychological well-being. The present study investigates the effect of post retirement work involvement (paid or voluntary) on mental health of retired individuals. The sample consisted of 68 retirees out of which 34 were working and 34 were non-working post retirement and they were assessed using the Mental Health Inventory (MHI; Veit & Ware, 1983) with two global scales of Psychological Well-being (PWB) and Psychological Distress (PD) and a global Mental Health Index (MHI). The effect of post retirement work involvement on subscales of general positive affect, emotional ties, life satisfaction, anxiety, depression and loss of behavioural/emotional control was also measured. Significant differences were seen in the mental health, psychological well-being and psychological distress of the two groups along with the differences in the subscales. These insights can be used for enhancing the mental well-being of the retirees through continued life engagement post retirement. Keywords

This paper attempts to take a brief overview of historical developments in education at the global as well as national level and in that context then aims to look at Gandhi's educational and philosophical views. The relation between Ahimsa, which is the cornerstone of Gandhi's philosophy, and well-being would be considered in keeping with Gandhi's views on education. Gandhi's philosophy of education aimed at transforming individuals to be responsible citizens who would contribute to the well-being of the society and also build individual character. The Gandhian model of social reconstruction aims at enhancing the character and overall development of individuals and nurture cultural development. One can conclude that the Gandhian perspective focuses on the holistic development of the individual by focusing on education as a basic fundamental right. Keywords
