The aim of the study was to assess the knowledge of high risk antenatal mothers on Prenatal Diagnostic tests and educate them about Prenatal Diagnostic tests. A descriptive study design was used which included 30 antenatal mothers with high risk pregnancy. The mothers were selected by purposive sampling technique. The tools used for the study were checklist for screening high risk pregnancy and a structured questionnaire to assess the mother's knowledge on antenatal diagnostic tests. Results showed mothers had inadequate knowledge on the prenatal diagnostic tests. The mean pretest score was found to be 17.6 (46.3%). The chi square value showed that there is a significant association between education & gestational age on prenatal diagnostic tests at p< 0.5 & p< 0.01 level of significance respectively.Keywords

This paper represents an end-to-end baseband model of the physical layer of a WiMAX network. MIMO-OFDM systems have been adopted in WiMAX which enable high data rate transmission over multipath fading channel. This model also illustrates adaptive modulation and coding over no fading, flat-fading and dispersive multipath fading channel whereby the simulation varies the data rate dynamically. The performance of WiMAX OFDM system physical layer in terms of BER and PER are evaluated using adaptive modulation technique in no fading, flat- fading and dispersive multipath fading channel. The WiMAX OFDM system is designed using MATLAB Simulink and the performances are evaluated. The simulation results show that maximum data rate and minimum values of BER and PER are obtained in 64QAM compared to other modulation techniques.Keywords

In this paper two pole chebyshev microstrip band pass filter is designed using two hairpin resonators and they are electrically coupled. The band pass filter is designed using dual feeding structure. The higher order harmonics of band pass filter are suppressed by using folded stubs and rectangular split ring resonator. The filter is designed at the frequency of 2.5GHz. The band stop effect of folded open stubs and split ring resonators are utilized to suppress the higher order harmonics of band pass filter.Keywords

The project is designed to develop a density based dynamic traffic signal system using raspberry pi. The signal timing changes automatically on sensing the traffic density at the junction. Traffic congestion is a severe problem in many major cities across the world and it has become a nightmare for the commuters in these cities. Conventional traffic light system is based on fixed time concept allotted to each side of the junction which cannot be varied as per varying traffic density. Junction timings allotted are fixed. Sometimes higher traffic density at one side of the junction demands longer green time as compared to standard allotted time. The image captured in the traffic signal is processed and converted into grayscale image then its threshold is calculated based on which the contour has been drawn in order to calculate the number of vehicles present in the image. After calculating the number of vehicles we will came to know in which side the density is high based on which signals will be allotted for a particular side. Raspberry pi is used as a microcontroller which provides the signal timing based on the traffic density.Keywords

Medical imaging techniques produce prohibitive amounts of digitized clinical data. Compression of medical images is a must due to large memory space required for transmission and storage. This paper presents an effective algorithm to compress and to reconstruct medical images. The proposed algorithm first extracts edge information of medical images by using fuzzy edge detector. The images are decomposed using Cohen-Daubechies-Feauveau (CDF) wavelet. The hybrid technique utilizes the efficient wavelet based compression algorithms such as JPEG2000 and Set Partitioning In Hierarchical Trees (SPIHT). The wavelet coefficients in the approximation sub band are encoded using tier 1 part of JPEG2000. The wavelet coefficients in the detailed sub bands are encoded using SPIHT. Consistent quality images are produced by this method at a lower bit rate compared to other standard compression algorithms. Two main approaches to assess image quality are objective testing and subjective testing. The image quality is evaluated by objective quality measures. Objective measures correlate well with the perceived image quality for the proposed compression algorithm.Keywords

Self Compacting Concrete (SCC) is a flowing concrete mixture that is able to consolidate under its own weight, without the need for vibration. The highly fluid nature of SCC makes it ideal for placing in difficult conditions and in sections with congested reinforcement. Mixture proportions for SCC differ from those of ordinary concrete, in that the former has more powder content and less coarse aggregate. Supplementary cementitious materials such as fly ash, silica fume and blast furnace slag, pond ash are normally used as powders to enhance the technology of SCC. In addition, SCC also incorporates chemical admixtures, such as HRWR (High Range Water Reducer), and VMA (Viscosity Modifying Agent). Large amount of fly ash and pond ash is being generated in India annually and hence there is a strong need to use this byproduct from thermal power stations, in large proportions in concrete which is also makes the concrete as cost effective. A SCC mix was arrived based on available EFNAARC guide lines and using various mix combinations. An experimental study is made on the properties of SCC incorporating fly ash and pond ash. Slump flow test, V-funnel test, L-box test were carried out to confirm the self-compact ability of concrete. Compressive strength test, split tensile test, flexural strength test, youngs modulus test were carried out on SCC. Experimental studies confirm that the mixes satisfy the requirement for SCC.

Small business and entrepreneurship has emerged as an important area of research over the past 40 years. In a developing country like India, Small Scale Entrepreneurship plays a significant role in economic development of the country. These industries, by and large represent a stage in economic transition from traditional to modern technology after globalization. The variation in transitional nature of this process is reflected in the diversity of these industries. Most of the small scale industries use simple skills and machinery. Besides playing economic role in the country, small scale industries, because of their unique economic and organizational characteristics, also play social and political role in local employment creation, balanced resource utilization, income generation and in helping to promote change in a gradual and peaceful manner. The study of entrepreneurship is essential not only to solve the problem of industrial development but also to solve the problems of unemployment, unbalanced areas development, concentration of economic power and diversion of profits from traditional avenues of investment. In this backdrop, the present study attempts to get insights to review, in brief, the evolution of the concept of entrepreneurship, the definition of small scale enterprises and also to study the small scale entrepreneurship in Madurai district.Keywords
