In this study an attempt has been made to study the parametric condition of the casting by different number of inlets and the location of the ingate or type of gating. The different types of gating system used are the top gating the side gating and the bottom gating. Different inlet conditions are kept same as the flow rate temperature with the different number of inlets as for each case single and double inlet making with the total number of six cases. By this the effect of changing these parametric conditions for the same casting is studied. Different cases for different gating location with different no of inlets are simulated using ProCast software and their results are critically examined in terms of shrinkage porosity, fill time, velocity, solidification time and the location of the hot spot. The results reveled that the location of gating system can affect the percentage of the defects. Simulation Techniques can help in optimum design of casting process effectively.
