Agriculture is the backbone of our country and economy, which acounts for almost 30 per cent of GDP and employs 70 per cent of the population. Agricultural technology available in the 1940s could not have been able to meet the demand of food for today’s population, in spite of the green revolution. To meet the forthcoming demand and challenge we have to divert towards new technologies, for revolutionizing our agricultural productivity.
