Socio Economic Factors of Life Insurance at Household Level:A Case Study

In this paper, the relationship between life insurance and various economic and demographic characteristics of households were examined. The study conducted in urban and rural areas of Krishna District in Andhra Pradesh show that individual and household level variables are important factors of life insurance ownership. The objective of this study was to examine the relationship between life insurance ownership and the demographic,economic and educational characteristics of respondents.The analysis was based on data from filed survey.The stratified sampling technique was used in selecting respondents and Chi-square test was employed to apply to match up observed data with data that would be estimated according to a given hypothesis.From the study find the major significant factors of insurance in urban area are caste, level of education, earning members in the family, income, savings and nature of accommodation. In the rural area caste, level of education, number of children in the family, number of dependents in the family, income and savings are the determinants of insurance. In both areas caste, level of education, income and savings are the significant factors.
