- Water Use Efficiency of Drip Fertigated Sweet Pepper under the Influence of Different Kinds and Levels of Fertilizers

A field experiment was conducted to study the influence of different kinds and levels of fertilizers on water use efficiency of drip fertigated Sweet pepper at the Research Farm of the Department of Soil and Water Engineering, PAU, Ludhiana in the year 2012-2013. In the drip fertigation experiment, two types of fertilizers viz. Water Soluble Fertilizers (specialized fertilizers, WSF) and conventional fertilizers and three doses of NPK fertilizers were applied by drip irrigation. The drip fertigated treatments were T1 (WSF applied at 80% RDF (recommended dose of fertilizer)), T2 (WSF applied at 70% RDF), T3 (WSF applied at 60% RDF), T4 (Conventional fertilizer applied at 80% RDF), T5 (Conventional fertilizer applied at 70% RDF) and T6 (Conventional fertilizer applied at 60% RDF) and an additional control treatment (with furrow irrigation and 100% traditional fertilizer) was used for comparison. The irrigation was applied at 75% ETC. The percentage water saving for drip fertigation treatment was 33.94% over the conventional irrigation. Out of all the treatments, water use efficiency for T2 treatment was maximum (5.24 q/ha-cm) which was significantly par with T4 (5.19 q/ha-cm) treatment. The minimum water use efficiency was in conventional method (2.69 q/ha-cm). While, for drip fertigated treatments, the minimum water use efficiency was in T6 treatment (3.25 q/ha-cm).The statistical analysis showed that the water use efficiency of T2 and T4 treatment were significantly superior than all other treatments.Keywords

Objective: To study the economic viability of Okra crop grown under different drip fertigation levels and different drip irrigation subsidy percentages. Methods: The field experiment was done at the research farm of department of Soil and Water Engineering, PAU, Ludhiana, India during 2014-15. The Nine drip fertigation treatments consisted of T1 - 60% fertilizer Nitrogen (N) with irrigation applied at 0.60 IW/CPE (irrigation water/cumulative pan evaporation) ratio, T2 - 60% fertilizer (N) with 0.80 IW/CPE ratio, T3 - 60% N with 1.00 IW/CPE ratio, T4 - 80% N with 0.60 IW/CPE ratio, T5 - 80% N with 0.80 IW/CPE ratio, T6 - 80% N with 1.00 IW/CPE ratio, T7 - 100% N with 0.60 IW/CPE ratio, T8 - 100% N with 0.80 IW/CPE ratio and T9 - 100% N with 1.00 IW/CPE ratio. Economical viability of drip fertigation was evaluated by computing Benefit-Cost ratio (B/C ratio) for each of drip fertigation treatment obtained by dividing gross returns by total seasonal cost. Economic analysis was done as per the cost involved in drip irrigation system components and requirement of fertilizer for one hectare area. The seasonal cost of growing okra under drip fertigation was calculated by considering depreciation, life of components, interest, fertilizers, insecticide, labors and cost of cultivation of growing Okra. Findings: In case of no drip irrigation subsidy, 60% drip irrigation subsidy and 75% drip irrigation subsidy, maximum B/C ratio was obtained in T5 treatment (2.25), (2.82) and (3.01) respectively; while minimum B/C ratio was obtained in T1 treatment (1.52), (1.9) and (2.03), respectively. The statistical analysis revealed that combination of fertilizers and irrigation levels had significant effect on B/C ratio of Okra production. Conclusion: It is economically viable to grow okra under drip fertigation with 80% fertilizer (N) along with irrigation applied at 0.80 IW/CPE ratio, only if drip irrigation subsidy provided by the government is higher than 30%.Keywords

The objective of the present paper is to study the perception of business students regarding ethics and values. The role of ethics and values in a student's life is very important as it strongly affects their future, career, growth, professional behaviour and helps them learn how to tackle ethical dilemmas in personal and professional life. The data for the study had been collected from the undergraduate (commerce, management, engineering, arts, and science) and postgraduate (commerce, management, engineering, arts, and science) students of the private university situated in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The collected data was analysed with the help of statistical technique such as factor analysis, T-test and regression analysis. The results revealed that awareness about ethics and values is an important factor accessed by all the respondents of the study.

In regard to ethics and values, nowadays corporate scenario also demands business ethics which will guide the emerging professionals to exercise this ethical domain in their professional lives. The children of present generation do not know about their culture, traditions, values, ethics etc. This is one of the reasons why the content related to ethics and values is included in the curriculum of their professional studies.The objective of the present paper is to study the perception of business students regarding ethics and values. The role of ethics and values in a student's life is very important as it strongly affects their future, career, growth, professional behaviour and helps them learn how to tackle ethical dilemmas in personal and professional life. In Current era, psychological and behavioral elements of an individual’s behavior are important for marketing professionals in order to understand consumer mindset in an effective manner. In the country like India, there is strong influence of the interpersonal relationships on the purchase behavior of the customers. In addition to the product usage, reference group influence also creates a positive or negative impact of the consumption pattern of an individual. Various marketers and companies are keen to understand the influence of societal component on the consumer behavior Therefore, it is very important to study the impact of the reference group on the consumer conformity (susceptibility to social influence or norms) which provides important insights to study the consumer behavior. The main purpose of the study is to identify the important variables that affect the consumer product usage and opinion which is influenced by the reference group. In the present study, extensive literature review was done to purpose the conceptual framework related to consumer conformity.Keywords
