Abstract

Impatiens dorjeekhandui Chowlu, S. S. Dash & Gogoi, a new species from Zemithang area in Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh, India is described and illustrated. This endemic new species is distinguished from closely allied Impatiens nagorum Gogoi, Moaakum & S. Dey, I. medogensis Y. L. Chen and I. balfourii Hooker.

Critical examination and literature survey on Impatiens species of Eastern Himalaya revealed that Impatiens citrina Hook. f. and I. tropaeolifolia Griff. ex Hook. f. need to be lectotypified. So lectotypes are designated, detailed descriptions from live material and coloured illustrations for easy identification are provided.

Abstract

Impatiens angustiflora Hook.f. (Balsaminaceae) re-collected from the type locality, Khasi Hills, Meghalaya, India after almost 67 years. The actual distributional range of the species has been discussed on actual data as there were erroneous reports of its occurrence. To facilitate its proper identity and easy identification, detailed description from live materials with coloured illustrations, comparison of characters with closely allied species are presented. The present status of the species in wild and measures of conservation are provided. A lectotype is designated here as no holotype was indicated in the protologue.

Impatiens williamsii H.Hara (Balsaminaceae) has been re-collected in West Nepal after 66 years. To facilitate its easy identification, detailed description and coloured illustrations from live materials are provided along with the conservation status of the species. Lectotype is also designated here for I. williamsii.
