Preliminary Studies on Floristic Status of some Selected Sacred Groves from Sangameshwar Taluka, District Ratnagiri, Maharashtra

Western Ghat in Maharashtra has a large number of Sacred groves and Sangameshwar Taluka alone has mbte than 150 sacred groves. The author gives an account of the preliminary studies on the flora of some selected groves fkom Sangameshwar taluka. During the rainy season, about 332 species of Angiosperms and 13 species of Pteridophytes were collected. The present status of these groves are also discussed.
