On the Occurrence of Glaucocystis itzigsohn in Eastern India

Glaucocystis Itzigsohn is an apoplastic alga containing blue-green endosymbionts (cyanelles). Status of this genus is being discussed in light of recent findings. Out of the five species known fiom Indian region, Glaucocystins nostochinearum Itzigsohn and G. reniformis Prasad are being described and illustrated. These two species are new records fiom West Bengal and Eastern India.
