Studies on the Vegetation of Surgana-Harsul Ranges of the Sahyadries, Nasik District, Maharashtra

This paper gives a preliminary account of the flora of the deciduous forests of Surgana, Peint, Bahre and Harsul ranges of the Sahyadries, Western ghats, Maharashtra State. The general composition of the vegetation which varies considerably from the valleys to the high hill tops has been briefly indicated. 403 species belonging to 83 families of Angiosperms and 5 species of Pteridophytes are enumerated. Families like Asteraceae, Fabaceae, Rubiaceae and Poaceae are well represented.
