In all Indian floras Necharnandra alternifolia, a common aquatic herb of Hydrocharitaceae, is described under the genus Lagarosiphon. Some authors use the name Lagarosiphon roxburghii; others place it under Lagorosiphon alternifolia. The correct name of this plant is Nechamandra alternifolia (Roxb.) Thw.
