118 algal taxa under four major groups (Chlorophyta, Cyanophyta, Heterokontophyta and Euglenophyta) were recorded from Chandubi Beel, a tectonic water body in the North East India. Among these, a total of 74 species belonging to Chlorophyta (68), Cyanophyta (1), Heterokontophyta (4) and Euglenophyta (1) were recorded for the irst time in Assam. The phytoplankton communities in the water body showed higher abundance of Desmids accounting to 69 taxa under 19 genera and Cosmarium was the most dominant genus with 15 species. Overall Species richness was higher in the autumn season.
