Background: Student performance determines learning achievement and how students absorb lessons in class. One of the factors that cause student performance to decline is physical fatigue, which arises because of the classroom’s physical environment that does not support the teaching and learning process. Purpose: This study was conducted to determine the relationship between classroom’s physical environmental conditions and fatigue among high school students. Methods: The study design used was cross-sectional. Data collection included measurements of physical environmental parameters (humidity, temperature, lighting, noise, air flow, ventilation, temperature control, room capacity, room area ratio per person, and school location) and measurements of fatigue among students using the Subjective Self Rating Test in the form of questionnaire. Total sample was 448 students in 10 private high schools, with inclusion criteria: the students are not sick in the last two weeks and 10th and 11th grade students from 10 private high schools. Results: The research showed classroom’s physical environmental factors that affect fatigue among student’s included temperature, relative humidity, air flow, and air conditioner. While the most dominant indicator that was related to the occurrence of students’ fatigue was sex. Conclusion: Further research is needed on other factors that may cause fatigue among students in the classroom to support the conclusion of this research.

This cross-sectional study was conducted in the district of North Bogor to find out the relationship of facilities, knowledge and counseling to the level of behavior of the handwashing of elementary school students. This research is a quantitative study, accompanied by observations of the availability of handwashing facilities in schools. Data characteristics, facilities, counseling, behavior and knowledge of students were collected using a questionnaire. Three hundred fifty-five students (51.8% were male) registered in this study. The average age of students is 10 years (73.0%). The availability of facilities such as hand washing facilities (100%), toilets (100%), clean water (97.7%), running water (82.0%) and soap (91.3%) in schools is quite complete. The behavior of students using soap when washing their hands (76.1%), after defecating small (88.7%), and after handling animals (82.0%). Students’ knowledge about correct hand washing (73.8%), the exact duration of handwashing (22.8%). In the logistic regression analysis, gender, age and counseling were not significantly related to student behavior. However, facilities (P=0.011) and knowledge (P=0.037) are related to students’ handwashing behavior. Observation found that the availability of washbasket facilities in five schools was in good condition and functioning normally as well as the standard operational procedures for handwashing in schools, but placed in a location that is not visible to students. In short, students’ handwashing behavior is still lacking, especially among students who are in schools with inadequate facilities and have less knowledge about handwashing.

The informal Used Lead-Acid Battery (ULAB) activities impact air pollution from smoke, dust, and waste containing lead. This study aims to determine the effect of air lead concentration on Blood Lead Levels (BLLs) in children aged 7-13 years in the informally ULAB area in the city of Depok. This study uses secondary data from the 2014 Special Research on Environmental Pollution for Traditional Battery Processing conducted by the National Institute of Research and Development. Cross-sectional study design, the study population was children aged 7-13 years in selected ULAB areas, with a total sample of 94 people. Each respondent took a venous blood sample and measured it with a portable blood lead gauge. The concentration of lead in the air was measured using a High Volume Air Sampler and analyzed by atomic absorption spectrometry. Normality test on BLLs and lead variables in the air. Linear regression test to determine the relationship between lead variables in the air and BLLs. The respondents’ average BLLs were 8.58 μg/dL, with intervals of 3.8 - 14.6 μg/dL. There was a strong relationship (r = 0.777) and statistically significant (p = 0.000) between air lead levels and BLLs. It has a lively pattern equation, meaning that if the lead level in the air increases, the BLLs will increase. Although BLL in children is still below World Health Organization (WHO) recommended, there needs to be measured to prevent children from being exposed to lead, because low BLLs for long periods can endanger children’s health.
