Abstract

Petrographical and geochemical studies show that during retrograde metamorphism there are major, trace and rare earth element geochemical variations of the jadeite-quartzite from the Chanpu district of Dabie Mountains, Eastern China. The elements such as Si0₂, FeO, Ba, Zr, Ga, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm and Eu increase gradually from the jadeite-quartzite to retrograded jadeite-quartzite and to gneiss, whilst Ti0₂ , Na₂0, Fe₂0₃ , Rb, Y, Nb, Gd, Th, Dy, Ho, Ef, Tm, Yb decrease gradually Such changes are not only controlled by element transfer within mineral phases, but are also closely related to the fluid-rock interaction during the decompressive retrograde metamorphic processes.
