Abstract

The points of controversy with regard to the genesis of charnockites have been critically reviewed. An attempt has been made to determine the temperature of formation of some charnockites from the coexisting mineral assemblages. The need to calibrate the 'pyroxene' thermometry with reference to the 'feldspar' thermometry is mentioned.
