Abstract
Thc Pakhals (Cuddapahs) comprise basal conglomerates at the base, followed by coarse and fine clastics and non-clastics. They rest unconformably over the Peninsular granites and gneisses (Archaeans). The statistical parameters of size and shape analyses and the heavy mineral analysis were computed from the coarse clastic sediments (quartzites and ferruginous sandstones). The data so obtained suggest that the sediments were deposited in a littoral environment.
