Abstract
The study of some carbonate rock samples collected from four different locations in Qatar and attributed to the Rus Formation (Lower Eocene) reveals that these rocks are mainly heterogeneous in their petrophysical characteristics. This is indicated not only by study of pore space geometry but also by a skewed distribution of porosity, permeability and hydraulic conductivity data.
These parameters help in reservoir evaluation and description. Useful empirical relations have been derived by which both the storage capacity and the gas-permeability of the studied rocks can be estimated. Study of SEM-micrographs have shown the influence of post-depositional processes on both porosity and gas-permeability in varying degress.
