Genesis of the Barakar Sediments of North Karanpura Coalfield, India as Revealed from Petrography and Provenance Study

The petrographic and provenance study of the sediments of Barakar Formation in North Karanpura Coalfield reveals the presence of cyclic sedimentation from coarse to fine clastics, coal and clay arkose. The evidences indicate that the sediments were deposited in a broad river channel with intermittent flooding.
