The area around the village Devidhura (79°52'22" : 29°25'30") covering about 250 square miles forms the subject matter of the present study. Two major tectonic units-the Almora nappe and the Krol nappe-separated by the Ladhiya Thrust can be recognized in the area. Crystallines corresponding to the Almora nappe have been thrusted over the sedimentary quartzites (resembling Nagthats) of the Krol nappe.
