Effect of Fluoxetine Hydrochloride on Fertility and Postnatal Development of Progeny of Female Wistar Rat

A Sub-acute toxicity study was conducted in adult female Wistar rats to study the effect of Fluoxetine Hydrochloride (Prozac) on reproductive behaviour, fertility and viability postnatal development of their progeny. 40 nulliparous depression induced female Wistar rats (11-12 weeks, weighing 150-170 gms) were divided into 4 groups and given Fluoxetine Hydrochloride at doses of 20mg/ kg, 40mg/kg, 60mg/kg and 80mg/kg intraperitoneally once daily for 14 days.

Abstract
