Abstract
The increased demand for new high-performance materials for the automobile industry, in the last decades, led to the intensification of researches in this field of metal matrix composites. The present study is conducted to understand the influence of compacting and sintering conditions on the particle reinforced aluminum composite. The sintering temperature employed also reveals the strength in the claim of liquid phase sintering of aluminum composites. The role of Magnesium also found to enhance effective sintering. Hot compacting was found to enhance particle movement and aid in uniform distribution. The results reveal that it is possible to achieve Micro hardness up to 79HV0.5 with greater uniformity of hardness and uniform distribution of reinforcement particles.
