High-temperature Drilling Fluid Resolves Slim Hole Long Horizontal Interval Challenges in the Jilin Oilfield

Deep fractured volcanic reservoirs of Yingcheng group in Yingtai gas field, Jilin oilfield is rich of gas. The reservoir temperature can reach up to 140 ℃. The appraisal well Longshen-1H1 in this block was a slimhole long horizontal interval horizontal well; its total depth was 4048m with 1122m horizontal interval. There were a lot of difficult problem such as high friction drag, high annular pressure loss, low annular velocity, bad cutting transporting, low ROP and more hole problems. The drilling fluid formulation was optimized by a lot of lab experiments. This drilling fluid showed many good properties under high temperature, including superior rheology, lubricity, inhibition, filtrate control capacity, good cutting transporting capacity, and formation protection ability. It can meet the requirements of Longshen-1H1 drilling engineering which broke the longest record of horizontal interval of deep horizontal well in Jiling oilfield.
