This book represents the proceedings of an International Symposium summarizing the role of minerals in human development. As pointed out in the preface "the role of minerals in human development has been relatively neglected compared with other nutrients" and in that respect this book serves the purpose to stimulate interest in this particular field. About twenty one authors have contributed to the various chapters.

This book is an excellent review of the patho-physiological and biochemical aspects of common nutritional disorders of infants and children, in the tropics. The book is well bound, in attractive size and shape. The chapters are short and precise.
