Abstract
Optimum health of population groups is essential for developmental planning. Malnutrition, a state of improper nutrient balance in the body affects health and aggraviates the clinical course of many infectious diseases. Protein malnutrition, is still a major problem in all segments of people in India. Food sources of animal protein are of prohibitive prices. The best alternative to animal protein is soya protein which is of reasonable cost.
