Abstract

Rapid industrialization and changing lifestyles have led to the development of large scale catering, which prepare and distribute food to the public. There has been a marked increase in the consumption of food outside home. Greater numbers of people eat meals prepared in restaurants, canteens, fast foods outlets and street foods.

Abstract

Diarrhoeal diseases are one of tine major causes of childhood mortality and morbidity. Amongst the leading five causes of under five mortality, diarrhoeal illnesses alone account for an estimated death of 2 million children each year in the developing countries.

Abstract

Street foods are defined as "Ready-to-eat foods and/or beverages sold by vendors and hawkers especially in the streets and/or other similar places". In the era of rapid urbanization and industrialization, the street food establishments have received a worm welcome as these foods not only provide inexpensive and nutritious food for millions of people in the middle and lower income group but also serve as a major outlet of income generation.
