Abstract

Adolescence comprises nearly half of the growing period in man. The term adolescence has been defined by WHO as a period of life where a series of varied, rapid and extensive change occurs. It is a crucial phase to catch up growth in the life cycle of girls after infancy. There are many physical changes that occur at this stage. The girls attain menarche as a result of hormonal changes.

Abstract

Vegetable constitute an important item of human diet which provide oil the essential nutrients and roughage required for a balanced diet, in a counthy marked by malnutrition and undernutrition vegetables have an important role as "Protective Food". Vegetables are rich and cheapest source of beta carotene and compensate for animal foods in combating vitamin A deficlency. Gopalan emphasised the need for correction of vitamin A deficits in Indian diets by encouraging the consumption of vitamin A rich foods available cheaply and easily rather than by consuming synthetic and expensive pills.

Abstract

There are very few studies on the nutritional quality, especially the energy value of different varieties. Yet where bajra is the staple, it would constitute the major source of both protein and energy. The protein and calorie content of bajra samples received from the All-India Coordinated Millets Improvement Project are reported in this study.
