In view of the paucity of protein rich sources and the big gap that exists between the demand and supply, attempts have been made in western countries to study the utilization of Non - Protein - Nitrogenous substances as substitutes for conventional protein. It has been established that rumen microflora can convert Non-Protein-Nitrogen (N.P.N.) to protein, which makes possible the utilization of various protein substitutes.
