Methods Used in Establishing Permissible Levels in Occupational Exposure to Harmful Agents

Permissible levels of exposure to harmful substances in industry and agriculture are now basic factors in the protection of workers' health. Unfortunately there has always been extensive disagreement on the values of the permissible levels promulgated by different countries, particularly the United States of America and the USSR, and it has been impossible to issue international recommendations for more than a few substances.
