Physical fitness and training are very much dependent on nutritional status of sports personnel. Diet significantly influences the performance of athletes. It is unfortunate to note that many student athletes may not be adequately nourished due to poor understanding of sports nutrition, lack of nutrition knowledge and practice. Nutrition education is a key element to promoting life long healthy eating and exercise behaviours and should start from the early stages of life. Nutrition education provided to sports persons has brought about desirable changes in food habits leading to good performance in sports.
