Socio Demographic Profile of the Intellectually Disabled Children

Background: The present study "Dietary and Lifestyle Factor affecting Nutritional Status of Intellectually Disabled Children" was undertaken to assess the nutritional status of intellectually disabled children and to find out the influence of socio demographic profile on degree of disability Objectives: To find out socio demographic factors of the intellectual disabled children Materials method: Twenty five intellectually disabled children who were studying in the Bethshan Special School at Madurai were selected for the study. An interview schedule was prepared and used to elicit general information of the subjects from parents and teachers. Socio demographic factors of the intellectually disabled children were studied. Results: The results of the present study on socio demographic factors revealed that the disabilities were more in the factors like male gender, age group 16-18 yrs, high income families, Hindu religion, urban area and in non-consanguineous type of marriage. Conclusion: The study concluded more affected intellectually children in the group of high income and urban areas.
