The notions of space and time being the prior categories of human thinking are addressed on and off from various perspectives (Gurevitch, 1972; Kay, 1979; Langacker, 1991) including linguistics, psychology and cultural studies. The interdisciplinary approach integrating various kinds of knowledge might be more fruitful. To cast light on the contemporary ways of space and time organization in the interdisciplinary perspective, we have to turn to the archaic forms of thinking and their embodiment in folklore and fairy tales literature. Owing to this fact, the present paper is biased with the linguistic analysis of the mentioned categories in the English version of the Welsh tale "Kilhwch and Olwen". Major types of space representation based on the division of the civilized and unfamiliar world, static and dynamic schemas as well as their connection to the plot development and main characters are outlined. One of the characters in question is a well-known King Arthur depicted as a war-leader and a powerful centre of the familiar world. Time depending on space structuring is event-grounded in the ongoing narration squeezed or extended. Our findings provide the outlook of the fundamental categories of human conceptual world interwoven with linguistic, cultural and literary data.
