Description:

Basically, the rock and rock-like materials such as concrete and soil are considered as geomaterials. Clays and some other materials which can be related with engineering processes can, also, be included in this category. Geomaterials are essential for life since human construct storage and access/transport areas in rock and mine for raw material. Essential material in mining processes is rock or geomaterials. Drilling, blasting, excavation and rock support processes rely on largely on physical and mechanical properties of rock. Additionally, quarrying and machining processes of natural stone depends in a greater extent to the physical and mechanical properties of natural stone.
