Dental agenesis is the most common developmental anomaly in humans and is frequently associated with several other oral abnormalities. In the literature, some terms are used to describe missing teeth like Oligodontia, Anodontia and Hypodontia. Oligodontia is defined as the developmental absence of six teeth or more , excluding third molars. It can be isolated or as a part of a syndrome such as in ectodermal dysplasia. The present case describes agenesis of permanent teeth which are non-familial and with no apparent systemic abnormalities.Keywords

The most common type of odontogenic tumours is odontomas. Generally, they are benign and asymptomatic in nature. This paper describes two varieties of odontomas in two different cases. In first case a compound odontoma present in maxillary anterior region lead to over retention of primary teeth and non eruption of permanent teeth. Retained deciduous teeth and the lesion were removed and permanent teeth were allowed to erupt and orthodontic treatment was done. In 2nd case a complex odontoma was incidentally found when patient reported for extraction of mandibular third molar which was surgically excised. The results achieved indicate that the early diagnosis of odontomas allows the adoption of a less complex and less expensive treatment and ensures better prognosis.Keywords

Peripheral odontogenic fibroma (POF) is a rare odontogenic tumor. It resembles clinically with other peripheral exophytic lesions like pyogenic granuloma, peripheral ossifying fibroma, and peripheral giant cell granuloma. Hence, needs to be differentiated from such other lesions. Histopathological examination being the only diagnostic approach for peripheral odontogenic fibroma, which can provide a basis for treatment and prognosis evaluation. This case report presents a rare clinical case of a 14-year-old female patient with a palatal overgrowth along the maxillary incisors, which was diagnosed as peripheral odontogenic fibroma.Keywords

Focal cemento-osseous dysplasia is a benign fibroosseous lesion that can be seen in dentulous and edentulous patients mainly in middle aged women. Although it is asymptomatic condition associated with vital teeth and needs no treatment but symptomatic patients require surgical debridement and sequestrectomy. We present a case report of symptomatic focal cemento-osseous dysplasia which requires surgical intervention.Full Text
