Professor Narayanaswamy Anand, former Dean of Research, and Director of the Centre for Advanced Studies (CAS) in Botany, University of Madras, Chennai passed away on 22 December 2018. He also served as the First Vice- Chancellor of VELS University at Pallavaram, Chennai.
