Laparoscopic surgeries under general anaesthesia are associated with unique haemodynamic changes in the form of increased systemic vascular resistance leading to hypertension, forcing to increase the depth of anesthesia. Dexmedetomidine due to its dinstinct properties can be used as an anesthetic adjuvant in the form of intravenous infusion. The present study was carried out to evaluate the ability of intravenous Dexmedetomidine as premedicant in decreasing intraoperative dose of opiods, anaesthetics and for attenuation of haemodynamic responses during laryngoscopy, tracheal intubation, pneumoperitoneum and extubation.
